A Daughter of Nature by Helena Karhu (2023, poem)

I gave up the illusion of becoming…

and I became a daughter of Nature instead.

Hearing trees: I am with them.

Listening the forest birds: I start singing with them.

The tracks of the wild animals make me happy beyond words: They are close to me!

I turn around and see a human being behind me.

I see those shining child’s eyes that are full of love for life.

I smile, as I see the truth in them.

There is peace all around, and peace is growing.

Our every breath

every action

every though

is for peace,

and it is the only thing that matters.

Animals, birds, all beings of nature are with us,

wild and free.

Our spirits can never be suffocated by their ugly pollutions.

We breath such clarity

The life itself supports us.

Take the next courageous and wise step now,

and live your dream!

Your sisters and brothers will support you,

and give you a hug for free speech.

We have no weapons nor legal papers for bad actions.

We have our drums, voices, and hearts

to show compassion.

We hold everything together!
